Got Scammed User Story

I Got Scammed—But Then The Server Did Something I Didn’t See Coming

You’d think after playing Adopt Me for years, I’d be immune to scams. I know all the tricks, all the red flags. But this one? This one caught me off guard.

It started with a simple message: “Trust trade for a YouTube video. I’m giving back better pets.”

Normally, I ignore stuff like that. But the girl had a legit-looking username, a decent inventory, and even had a Neon Frost out. So I thought—maybe she’s for real. And yeah, I was curious.

I figured I’d test the waters with something small. I traded her a Fly Ride Kitsune. Nothing major, but still worth something. She accepted, then said, “Hold on, I’m grabbing the prize pet.”

You already know what happened next.

She left.

Poof. Gone.

I just sat there staring at the empty chat like… seriously? I felt so dumb. I mean, I wasn’t devastated, but it stung. I wasn’t mad about the pet—I was mad that I fell for it.

Then something weird happened.

People in the server started messaging me. One person said, “Did she scam you too?” Another said, “She just left after I gave her a Neon Dog.” Turns out, she’d hit a few of us in the same server back-to-back.

And then—this is the part I didn’t see coming—we kind of teamed up.

We added each other, shared screenshots, and a couple of players even reported her account together. One girl, who I’d never spoken to before, said, “Hold on, I’ve got an extra Kitsune. I’ll give it to you.”

I was like, “No, it’s okay!” but she insisted. Traded it over for free. Another player gave the other kid back a Neon Dog. It turned into this mini support group of people just being… kind.

Total strangers. All getting scammed. All choosing to help each other anyway.

So yeah, I got scammed. But instead of getting bitter about it, I made a few new friends, got my pet back, and saw just how awesome this community can be when we’ve got each other’s backs.

Moral of the story? Report scammers, trust carefully… and don’t underestimate a good server full of kind people. 💛
